August 19th, 2015 at Batch Gastropub in Brickell the Florida Center for Ocean Sciences Education Excellence hosted it’s first ever Shark Trivia Night! Shark experts David Shiffman and Catherine MacDonald, PhD Candidates at University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School for Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, joined us once again to field questions from the audience and help design the trivia questions.
Participants formed teams of four where they could win scientifically accurate marine figures donated by Macanoco & Co. for two rounds of trivia, as well as an individual bonus question with prizes from Die Epic. The teams got creative with names like “Loan Sharks”, “I’m so lonely please date me”, “License to Krill” and even “Sharky-Shark Walberg”. During the intermission we held a Shark Fashion Show to display the great t-shirts (and socks!) participants wore to support sharks and other marine life.
